Vince Lombardi Hologram During Super Bowl Leaves NFL Fans Divided

With Super Bowl 55 between the Buccaneers and Chiefs just minutes away, fans watching from around the globe were treated to an iconic pre-game speech from none other than Vince Lombardi himself.

Well, sort of.

The legendary coach, who was renowned for his powerful motivational talks during his decorated football career, was brought to life inside the Raymond James Stadium with the use of a hologram.

But instead of using an old recording from one of his many addresses, the NFL re-recorded his voice to deliver a new speech that touched on important topics such as the global pandemic and the fight against racial injustices.

For most, even witnessing a hologram of Lombardi served as a powerful moment just seconds before kick-off in the biggest sports game of the year.

But for others, they didn't seem too impressed.

Author Mark Russell tweeted: "Why does the Super Bowl's fake Vince Lombardi have the voice of Bane from the Dark Knight Rises?"

While New York magazine editor Justin Miller added: "Hologram Lombardi sounded like we're going to invade Normandy, not watch 4 hours of football."

As another said: "Vince Lombardi's appearance was a little creepy."

But while some seemed a little freaked out by the NFL great's hologram, others were quick to praise the NFL for the genius idea.
