Shannon Sharpe Says He Would've 'Whooped Will Smith's A**' If He Was Chris Rock

Shannon Sharpe has joined the chorus of voices condemning Will Smith for his actions at the Oscars.

In fact, NFL Hall of Famer Sharpe has gone one step further, claiming he "would've whooped Will Smith's a**" if he was up on stage with him.

The internet went into a frenzy during the 94th Academy Awards when Best Actor winner Will Smith leapt up out of his seat and slapped host Chris Rock around the chops after the comedian made a joke about Smith's wife Jada.

Fresh Prince of Bel Air star Smith then returned to his seat, shouting: "Keep my wife's name out of you f**king mouth!"

The entire ordeal made for pretty shocking viewing as people watching from home tried to dissect what on earth had just happened.

Footage of the wild incident has now been seen by million across the globe as big-name celebrities have slowly began having their say on the matter.

While some have sided with Smith for seemingly sticking up for his partner, others have slammed the Hollywood megastar - Denver Broncos legend Shannon Sharpe being one of them.

The former tight end-turned-TV analyst went to town on Smith while appearing on his "Undisputed" show, and his comments are now going viral.

"I would've came up out of that tux and I would've whooped Will Smith's a**," Sharpe told co-host Skip Bayless.

"He would've had to whoop me or I would've had to whoop him and every time I see him it's on sight!

"And then you apologise to the Academy? You need to apologise to that man.

"There's three things, especially in our community. You say the n-word, you spit on me, and you slap me. Because if you go back to when we were less than, that's what they did. They didn't punch you, they slapped you because that's the ultimate sign of disrespect."

Sharpe then went on to suggest that Smith should've taken his anger out on August Alsina over his previous "entanglement" with Jada Pinkett Smith.

"He didn't slap that guy? That's the guy you should be mad at," Sharpe said.

"Go fight that dude! That's the dude I'm looking for, that was all up in my house doing what I should've been doing!"

Fellow American sports personality Stephen A. Smith channelled Sharpe's sentiment, dismantling the actor's actions via Twitter.

"What Will Smith did tonight is straight bulls**t," Smith said in a video.

"Props and congratulations to him for winning the Oscar because damn it he deserved it. I love the brother and I'm proud of him but boy was that a shameful act for him to commit tonight.

"To go up on stage and slap Chris Rock like that... he's lucky he didn't get his ass kicked. Particularly after the event was over, if not by Chris Rock, to the fellas he had there with him. I mean damn."
