American Fans Are Absolutely In Awe Of This Aussie NFL Punter

It's not too often that you see an Aussie in the NFL.

But whatever Michael Dickson is doing, he seems to be doing it just right.

The Seattle Seahawks punter has received glowing praise from fans across the United States for another flawless display with the boot in Week 2 of the revamped NFL season.

Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson was the star of the show as he helped guide the Seahawks to a 35-30 win over Bill Belichick's New England Patriots.

Wilson was immense with the ball-in-hand and threw five touchdowns.

But it was Seattle's performance with the boot which also captured fans' attention.

2018 Pro Bowler Dickson was in the thick of the action, giving the Seahawks faithful a healthy reminder of what he's truly capable of.

After being drafted in the fifth round back in 2018, Dickson somewhat revolutionised the punting game after landing on his feet in the NFL.

Rather than punting in the traditional American Football way (where the ball doesn't touch the ground before making contact with the boot), Dickson reinvented the punt by letting it bounce before kicking it.

Some Aussies would refer to his unconventional technique as a drop-kick.

But for fans over in America, this was a game-changer - and Dickson gave those loyal supporters another glimpse of his punting ability against the Patriots.

Dickson successfully completed a number of monstrous punts to put his opponents on the back foot.

One magical 54-yard punt in particular pinned New England in their own half after it landed on the two yard line.

Unsurprisingly, both Aussie sports tragics and NFL experts flocked to social media to praise the Sydney-born star.

NFL fan favourite and Indianapolis Colts legend Pat McAfee founded the term: Punters are people too.

But Dickson is quickly proving that he's not just a punter - he's one of the most effective players on the Seattle Seahawks' roster.
