For the second time in two weeks, MotoGP star Maverick Vinales has been involved in a scary accident.

The Yamaha rider was forced to leap from his bike at speeds of over 200km/h after his brakes failed on him mid-race.

Cameras captured the horrifying moment as the Spaniard was seen frantically abandoning his bike at the last minute as he approached a corner at rapid speed.

Vinales hit the deck and slid across the Red Bull Ring circuit as his bike went flying into the barriers and instantly burst into blames.

The wild incident occurred on turn one of the Styrian Grand Prix with race officials ultimately forced to pull out the red flag for the event.

While the race itself was restarted after a lengthy break, attention immediately turned to Vinales - who was lucky to escape without any serious injuries.

After the event, he brave racer confirmed that the reason for his quick exit was because his "brakes exploded".

It's the second time in a matter of seven days that Vinales has experienced an awful crash in Austria.

Last weekend, the Spanish star saw a stray motorbike fly between him and teammate Valentino Rossi.

Just as the Yamaha duo were turning a sharp corner, the wayward bike came hurtling towards them and narrowly missed their heads by mere inches.

While Vinale was fortunate not to be hit, he wasn't as lucky as Rossi whose POV camera footage from his helmet painted a different story.

The scary vision shows Rossi literally cheating death as the Franco Morbidelli's bike flashes between his face and the tail of Vinales' bike.

Thankfully, Vinales escaped without any injuries on both occasions.
