LeBron James was involved in a heated courtside spat with a spectator, which resulted in the fan getting booted out of the arena.

The Los Angeles Lakers' game against the Atlanta Hawks came to a grinding halt during the fourth quarter when the female fan was seen exchanging words with LeBron.

And while it's still unknown exactly what was said, the actions of the spectator was enough to get her kicked out.

LeBron looked rather confused and stunned as he and his teammates watched stadium security escort the woman out.

Footage of the incident spread like wildfire on social media, with many users pointing out that the person involved was breaking the rules by not wearing a mask during her back-and-fourth with the four-time NBA champion.

Thankfully, referees and security eventually got the situation under control.

But as the game continued on, members of the media were frantically searching for more details on the bizarre incident that had just occurred.

And to their pleasant surprise, it didn't take too long for the woman involved to shed some light herself.

In a video posted on her own Instagram, 'julianaacarlos' said: "LeBron James looked at my husband during the game and cussed him out.

"And I stood up and I go 'don't f***ing talk to my husband, talk to my husband one more time and I will f*** you up.

"And he started barking and he goes 'shut your mouth dumb b***h' and I go 'you shut your f***ing mouth b***h'."

The Lakers ended up beating the Hawks 107-99 to extend their record to 16 wins and six losses.

And when asked about the bizarre exchange during his post-game press conference, LeBron admitted that it looked far worse than it actually was.

"At the end of the day, I'm happy fans are back in the building," he said.

"I miss that interaction. I need that interaction.

"I don't feel like it was warranted to be kicked out.

"There was a back and forth between two grown men, he said his piece, I said my piece, then someone else jumped into it and said their piece.

"I don't think they should have been kicked out... but they might have had a couple of drinks maybe, and they could have probably kept it going during the game and it wouldn't have been about the game no more.

"I think the referees did what they had to do."
