Following Chelsea’s pursuit of several defenders in the summer transfer window, Levi Colwill’s future at the club hangs in the balance.
The 19-year-old has returned to Cobham following an impressive loan spell at Huddersfield Town last season and is itching to stake a claim while on the club’s tour of the United States.
Colwill was included in the travelling party and has been training under the watchful eye of head coach Thomas Tuchel this week.
He will be hoping to impress but his future remains unclear as a result of the club’s transfer business in defence, which is a priority for Chelsea after the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
“The priority right now is our defence, it's not a secret. We lost top players and so now we need to replace them,” Tuchel told Sky Sports.

Moves are already being made in the transfer window. Discussions are ongoing with Manchester City over the signing of Nathan Ake.
While Kalidou Koulibaly is set to undergo his medical this week ahead of a £34 million switch to Stamford Bridge.
Presnel Kimpembe and Jules Kounde have both been linked as a move for Matthijs de Ligt now looks unlikely with a switch to Bayern Munich looking increasingly likely.
But incomings mean departures, naturally. That could be the case with Colwill.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Colwill is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this summer on a permanent deal due to the defensive arrivals.
Southampton and Leicester City have been linked with the English defender, while talkSPORT also claim newly-promoted Fulham are interested in his signature.
Other reports suggest that he doesn’t want to leave and is not demanding to be an instant starter under Tuchel during the 2022/23 season.
As reported by Nizaar Kinsella, Crystal Palace believe they are among the frontrunners for the teenager, who is also the subject of interest from Arsenal and Brighton.

The teenager wants assurances over minutes, however his future is all dependent on who arrives through the doors at Chelsea.
Colwill’s future isn’t the only uncertain one in west London. Armando Broja, who flew out with Raheem Sterling to join the squad in Los Angeles, is attracting heavy interest from across the Premier League.
West Ham, Everton and Newcastle United are all vying for his signature but no decision has been made over his future.
Tuchel wanted to assess him and all of the returning loanees during pre-season in order to make the most informed decision regarding whether they have a role in the side next term.
But with the season three weeks away, Colwill and co will be wanting their futures resolved one way or another sooner rather than later.
