Jorginho has made an honest admission regarding his penalty against Everton as Chelsea came out 1-0 victors at Stamford Bridge.

Ben Chilwell ran through onto a fine Kalidou Koulibaly pass before being brought down in the box, leaving Jorginho with the opportunity to put his side ahead.

It was a replay of the Euro 2020 final, where Jorginho stepped up for Italy’s final penalty in the shootout, which was saved by Jordan Pickford in the England goal.

Jorginho would go on to get the last laugh in the encounter, with his side winning after Bukayo Saka missed the crucial penalty.

The Italian decided against his usual penalty technique to slot into the bottom left corner, sending Pickford the wrong way.

Thomas Tuchel admitted that he was happy with the Blues’ result, more so than the performance, speaking to football.london.

He said: "It's always about the win when you play Premier League. A win is a win and it's most important because it's what we play for. It's important to build confidence, belief, the atmosphere, and also to be open for improvement and criticism because there are a lot of things to improve.

"There are also a lot of good things to take away.

"We have struggled in the last years to steal the points here and win and today we got all three and a clean sheet.

"From here we go."

Jorginho was deployed in midfield alongside N’Golo Kante, doing their part as Chelsea kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win.

Jorginho, who scored the only goal of the game, admitted that he had to think about his penalty technique when facing Pickford after missing his last spot-kick against him in the Euro 2020 final.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, he admitted: "Of course you think about it (Euro 2020 final miss).

"What the keeper may do in that moment, I was thinking about it a lot. It was the right decision. For me it is 75% all in the head. I thought a lot and it went well.”

The Italian finalised by giving an honest analysis of the game, admitting that it was a well deserved win for his side.

"We know it was a hard place to play.

"We stayed humble and put a lot of effort. Was a deserved win,” he concluded.

Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur in the second match of the Premier League season, looking to continue their winning start to the season after the victory against Everton.
