Dynamo Moscow confirm why Arsen Zakharyan won't join Chelsea despite 'substantive negotiations'

Arsen Zakharyan was wanted by Chelsea this summer but Dynamo Moscow have confirmed he is staying.

Dynamo Moscow have confirmed why Arsen Zakharyan will not be joining Chelsea this summer despite 'substantive negotiations' between the clubs.

The transfer window is drawing to a close but Thomas Tuchel's side have been trying to complete last minute moves on deadline day.

It has been a hectic summer for the Blues, with in excess of £250 million being spent on incomings.

Wesley Fofana arrived on Wednesday and is the latest addition to the squad in a move that was worth £69.5 million. He joins Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella as the major signings this window.

Business for the west London side is not yet wrapped up though. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on the verge of joining in a deal that would see Marcos Alonso head the other way.

There was also a £43 million bid submitted for Ajax's Mexican midfielder Edson Alvarez.

The Dutch side are unwilling to let him go but the player is keen to complete a move to Stamford Bridge.

On top of this, it has been revealed by Dynamo Moscow that they had received an offer from Chelsea for their midfielder, Zakharyan.

This offer was sent on the 25th of August and the Blues wanted to show their interest in acquiring the 19-year-old talent.

The Russian has played a total of 48 games for Dynamo Moscow's first team and has netted 11 times. He has even appeared four times for Russia despite his very young age.

There have been 'substantive negotiations' between Dynamo and Chelsea over a potential transfer. However they have shared that it will not be possible to complete a transfer in the summer window. The two parties have decided that Zakharyan will continue to play for the Russian outfit.

The statement read: "On August 25, FC Dynamo received an offer from the English football club Chelsea regarding the transfer of midfielder Arsen Zakharyan. The interest of one of the strongest clubs in the world to the graduate of our club academy is a high assessment of the quality of training of young football players of Dynamo and Arsene's playing progress.

"For several days, there were substantive negotiations between Dynamo and Chelsea, in which our club took a constructive position. However, due to a number of technical reasons beyond our control, it is not possible to transfer the player to this summer transfer window. Nevertheless, our club remains open to proposals that will suit Dynamo and the player.

"At the moment, the parties have decided that Arsene will continue to play for Dynamo. This does not rule out a move for Chelsea in the future and they may have to go for him in the winter window instead. Ultimately, the Blues are going to have to find another way to get a midfielder to sign for the club as soon as possible."

Brighton and the west London side have reportedly agreed a fee for Billy Gilmour, which leaves Chelsea with little depth in the middle of the park.

Ethan Ampadu is also close to the exit door, with a returning loan move to Spezia looking likely. These transfers put Tuchel's side in a precarious position, both N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have struggled with injuries already this season, and if they suffered anything more serious, there could be real trouble.
