Manchester United Target Four Barcelona Players For Summer Signings

Manchester United could be set to make a raid on Barcelona, with the Premier League club reportedly interested in four players from the La Liga side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team finished third this season and reached the semi-finals of three competitions, which was a decent season for them and an improvement on last season.

However the manager will be looking to improve his side further next season and according to reports he's got his eyes on the Catalan giants.

According to the Manchester Evening News and Mundo Deportivo, United are interested in Ousmane Dembele, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti.

Following their 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week, every Barca player bar five are available for transfers this summer, although one of that five is Lionel Messi and the six time Ballon d'Or winner is supposedly ready to leave the club this summer.

With that being the case United would have a good chance of signing their reported targets but it might not be so simple.

According to the Spanish outlet, Rakitic has already ruled out the idea of moving to United this summer and he has been linked with a return to Sevilla.

United would likely only be interested in a move for Dembele, Barca's most expensive ever signing, if they can't get their hands on Jadon Sancho.

The Borussia Dortmund forward is clearly the Premier League side's number one target this summer but the Bundesliga side won't let him go for less than £105 million.

United were originally set a deadline of of August 10th to do the deal andDortmund are claiming that the deal is now over with the buying club unwilling to match their asking price in time.

Solskjaer spent big money to improve his defence last summer, bringing in Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but it still needs improvement.

At 26-year-old and being a left footed centre back, Umtiti could be the perfect addition to United's squad, although his injury problems are certainly a worry.

Vidal is 33-years-old and only has a year left on his deal so the Red Devils would want him in a cut price deal but it doesn't seem a likely transfer.

Nemanja Matic has only just signed a new three year deal at the club so any defensive midfield signing would likely be in a younger age bracket.
