Manchester United have created identical transfer plans for Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have created identical transfer plans for Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho

The duo appear to not have a future at Erik ten Hag's side

The upcoming summer could be an incredibly busy one at Manchester United which will be the first in which Sir Jim Ratcliffe's ownership has a meaningful impact on the club.

Through his INEOS group, Sir Jim has had a bid for 25% of the Old Trafford club accepted by the Glazer family, who remain in majority control but no longer have the complete say over how United is run.

A key aspect of Sir Jim's ownership is that his stake will include the running of the club's football operations in all aspects, and that includes transfers both in and out and the squad available to boss Erik ten Hag.

In terms of outgoings, Donny van de Beek has headed out on loan to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt already this month, while Jadon Sancho is poised to seal a return to former club Borussia Dortmund for the second half of the campaign.

Sancho has not lived up to the £73m United paid the German club for the 23-year-old back in 2021, and has been exiled from the first team at Old Trafford after a dispute with Ten Hag in the aftermath of him not being selected for the loss to Arsenal in September over his training performances.

It appears unlikely Sancho has a future at United and it had led to the attacker's impending return to the Bundesliga club.

Mason Greenwood is currently away from United on loan for the season at Spanish side Getafe - and it appears both players are unlikely to feature for the Old Trafford club again, with identical transfer plans in the works which could come to fruition this summer.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, when it comes to Sancho, there is no complusory option for Dortmund to buy him in the summer after his loan spell.

He reports that United will assess their options in the summer when it comes to Sancho's future on the back of his spell back in the Bundesliga and the potential to receive more lucrative offers for him.

In a similar vein with Greenwood, The Sun reports that Getafe wish to buy the United academy graduate for £40m this summer, but that Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are all clubs who are keeping tabs on him.

It is why United have kept the deal as a loan one at present, with the hope that the Old Trafford club could sell him for more this summer, just like with Sancho.

United have typically struggled to consistently recoup big fees in the transfer market when it comes to selling players, but that could change in a few months from now.
