American tennis star Danielle Collins had a bit of a mishap in her second-round Australian Open matchup against Karolina Muchova.

Collins and the Czech tennis star battled it out all the way to the third set where they went the distance before the American took home the tie-break.

However, Collins seemingly forgot the Grand Slam tie-break rules in the heat of the moment.

After Muchova fired a shot wide to give the 29-year-old the 7-3 tie-break lead, which Collins presumably believed was enough to give her the win.

She dropped her racquet to the ground and pumped her hands in celebration thinking she had won the match.

However, there were a few snickers in the crowd as the commentators noted that you need 10 points to win a tie-break at Grand Slams.

The world number 11 looked confused as she approached the net, while her counterpart stood still.

The umpire then clued Collins in about the rules of a Grand Slam as Collins looked perplexed.

However, upon realising her mistake she let out a sly smile as all she could do was laugh as the crowd joined in.

Muchova briefly took advantage in the brain fade as she brought the score to 7-5, however, Collins recovered her mindset and took home the set 10-6.

Speaking after the matchup, Collins admitted that she’d never played a tiebreak in the final set of a Grand Slam before so was genuinely confused about the situation.

Although she conceded that she does have a tendency to ‘forget’ the score.

Collins told media: “I was a little embarrassed.

“I never had to play a tiebreak in the third set at a grand slam so I thought the match was over.

“I just told myself at least you didn’t face plant on the floor, I was trying to keep things in perspective.

“I am not good with the score, sometimes I forget. I need to work on that one a bit!”

Collins' best Grand Slam finish came in last year’s Wimbledon where she made the semi-finals.

She gets set to take on Elena Rybakina in the third round of the Australian Open.
