What a way to start the main card of UFC Perth.

Alonzo Menifeld and Jimmy Crute put on a slobber knocker of a fight with neither fighter giving in.

It was a brilliant mix of grappling excellence and hard-knock shots in one of the most entertaining fights in recent memory.

Jimmy Crute survived an onslaught at the end of the first round and was saved by the buzzer as he looked dazed.

The Australian seemed to be suffering a hangover from the previous round, looking out on his feet as Menifeld continued to lay it in.

He was copping shots from every angle but managed to regain some of the momentum toward the end of the second round, almost catching the American in a rear-naked choke.

The two fighters were exhausted in the third round as Crute stayed on his opponent attempting to catch him with a submission or with a shock shot.

Menifeld lost a point after grabbing the fence midway through the third round, which ultimately saw him miss out on the win.

The judges scored the result as a draw in a fair reflection of the fight.

An entertaining way to kick off UFC 284.
