Arsenal make Gabriel transfer stance clear amid 'concrete' Saudi Pro League interest

Arsenal's stance is clear.

Arsenal have set out their stance on selling defender Gabriel Magalhaes before the end of the transfer window, according to a new report.

The Brazilian centre-back was an ever-present part of Arsenal's pursuit of the Premier League title last season, starting all 38 matches on the left side of defence.

That starting streak looked set to continue after he played in the Gunners' penalty shootout win over Manchester City in the Community Shield.

But he was named on the bench for the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, and was not restored to the starting XI to take on Crystal Palace on Monday.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad in recent weeks, with Nuno Espirito Santo's side desperate to sign fresh talent.

And Real Madrid are also said to be keen on signing the defender.

Now, a new report has laid out Arsenal's position over a potential transfer.

Arsenal 'make Gabriel transfer stance'

According to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor, Arsenal have no plans to sell Gabriel this summer and want him to remain as part of the first team squad.

However, he adds that interest from Al Ittihad is 'concrete', and that they are likely to continue pursuing the defender despite Arsenal's stance.

Taylor tweeted: "Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad retain interest in Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes but need to make room within their squad which currently contains eight (maximum) foreign players.

"Arsenal do not have any plans to sell Gabriel Magalhaes or any other key first team players before transfer window closes.

"But that's unlikely to stop Al Ittihad from trying. Their interest is concrete."

Al Ittihad have already completed several high-profile acquisitions this summer, including the signings of Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante as free agents, and Fabinho from Liverpool.

They also signed winger Jota from Celtic, although reports from Saudi Arabia claim he could be set to leave the club just a month after arriving.

Nuno's side are currently top of the Saudi Pro League table on goal difference after winning both of their opening games without conceding.
