Lionel Messi has scored an absolute rocket of a free-kick in the 93rd minute of his debut for Inter Miami to win the game 2-1 against Cruz Azul.

You couldn’t write a better script for the Argentine to make his debut for the MLS side, proving once again why he is still the GOAT of the game.

The World Cup winner stepped up after being fouled just outside the box late in the game with the scores tied at 1-1.

It was the perfect position for Messi, and as we have seen so many times before the little magician stepped up and slotted the ball into the top corner.

The crowd erupted as Messi wheeled away with his new Miami teammates and fireworks went off across the stadium.

The 36-year-old ran over and embraced his family in a spine-tingling moment, truly announcing his arrival in America.

Inter Miami part-owner and a free-kick master himself, David Beckham could be seen in tears from the moment on the sidelines.

The free-kick gave Miami the 2-1 win in the League Cup against Cruz Azul.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner started on the bench for his new side, entering the pitch in the 53rd minute.

The reaction was absolutely thunderous for the 20,000+ inside the DRV PNK Stadium as he made his way onto the field.

He was joined by former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets as Miami made a triple substitution, with Josef Martinez also joining them.

Chants of ‘Messi, Messi, Messi’ could be heard across the stadium as those in attendance finally got to witness the moment they had all been waiting for.

The American commentator stated: “We are officially in the Lionel Messi era.”
