"I was bang on" - £73m Manchester United star tipped to join Everton on loan

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho will soon end up at Everton on loan, retired footballer Curtis Woodhouse predicted.

Sancho started the season impressively for Man Utd, with well-taken goals against Liverpool and Leicester, but he has not found the net since the start of September.

Indeed, the winger has struggled at Old Trafford since a £73million move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, having previously lit up the Bundesliga.

Sancho was one of the world’s most productive wingers at Dortmund - he scored 50 goals and set up 64 others in 137 games. At one stage he was even thought to have featured more prominently in England manager Gareth Southgate’s plans than Phil Foden.

However, his form has been so poor since the Old Trafford switch little was made of the 22-year-old’s absence from England's 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

On loan at Everton?

Former Sheffield United and Birmingham City midfielder Woodhouse has predicted Sancho’s decline to continue, to a point where he will be on loan at mid-table Everton.

Woodhouse made the claims while watching Man Utd’s 2-1 against Fulham, a game Sancho did not feature in through illness.

The 42-year-old said: “I don’t get them all right, [Mikel] Arteta being one but I was bang on about Sancho, will be at Everton soon on loan.”

Sancho has produced just two goals and one assist in his 10 Premier League matches this term, while the winger has also scored one goal in his four Europa League outings.

Last season Sancho scored three goals and three assists in 20 League starts and scored one goal in his five Champions League games.

Ten Hag sympathy for Sancho

Speaking to the press before the Fulham game, Ten Hag sympathised with Sancho after the winger was snubbed from England’s World Cup squad.

The Dutchman told reporters: “He [Sancho] has had some really good performances and was going in a good direction.”

“But last weeks he struggled with illness. Then it’s normal that you don’t get the nomination for it [the World Cup].

“Every manager will take only fit players to the World Cup.”
