Kylian Mbappe has been slated by fans after he didn’t pass to an unmarked Lionel Messi in Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-1 thumping of defending French champions Lille.

Danilo Pereira opened the scoring for PSG on Sunday in the opening 10 minutes after Ivo Grbic spilled Nuno Mendes’ cross.

Lille pulled back an equaliser through Sven Botman’s half-volley, while PSG restored their advantage minutes later after Presnel Kimpembe scored from close range.

Mbappe received the ball inside the Lille half and charged towards the opposition box, but the PSG superstar was dispossessed on the edge of the box.

However, Messi skipped his way past a last-ditch tackle before dinking an onrushing Grbic with a vintage finish.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner might have put PSG 3-1 up, but fans were far from impressed with a “selfish” Mbappe for not setting up Messi in the first place.

“An unselfish Mbappe would’ve had an assist, but look at him trying to [be the] world best,” one fan said.

Someone else tweeted: “See Mbappe seriously struggling. Christ.”

A third added: “Mbappe was struggling, yet he refused to pass to Messi!”

While a fourth posted: “Wonder [what the f**k] Mbappe was doing.”

And a fifth wrote: “Mbappe is talented but I don’t like his style. I don’t like players who are unnecessarily selfish with the ball. Who engage in aimless runs even in situations where they can get the ball to a teammate.”

Danilo completed his brace early in the second half before Mbappe scored PSG’s fifth in his side’s sensational win at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Messi has only scored twice in Ligue 1 since his stunning free transfer move last summer, but the Barcelona legend has registered six assists in the French league.

PSG’s 5-1 drubbing of the reigning champions of France has moved them 13 points clear of second-place Marseille in the Ligue 1 title race.

Lille, meanwhile, languish in 11th place and are a staggering 24 points adrift from league leaders PSG.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will resume their Ligue 1 campaign on Friday when they host Rennes at the Parc des Princes.
