A former Liverpool player claims he was duped into believing he had COVID-19.
John Aldridge, who scored 63 goals in 104 games for the Reds and also turned out for Real Sociedad, was the victim of a cruel prank played on him by his wife.
The former Republic of Ireland international took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal he had been done over by his other half.
He had taken a rapid Covid antigen test which had one line showing up next to the letter C.

That meant that a negative test result had been returned by the 65-year-old. However, his wife was somehow able to convince him that the line next to C meant "COVID".
In fact, two lines showing is what constitutes a positive test result but Aldridge was none the wiser.
He ended up isolating as a precaution for absolutely no reason and said the moral of the story is to "never trust your wife".

Aldridge wrote: "So the wife told me 4 days ago I had Covid...
"C means Covid John" been isolating all week, not been the pub. Well am out today! Never trust your wife."
His post quickly went viral, garnering over 229,000 views on X.

At present self-isolation is not a legal requirement but NHS advice recommends trying to stay away from contact for a period of five days after a negative test or first day of symptoms.
Aldridge saw the funny side but made up for lost time by heading to the boozer to watch Liverpool's trip to Luton in Sunday's 16:30 kick-off.
Aldridge is still heavily involved with Liverpool and is the chairman of the club's players association, Forever Reds.
