Chelsea have made a 'formal bid' for Corinthians wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have already spent nearly £350million on new recruits this summer and roughly £900m since the arrival of Todd Boehly in May 2022.

Manchester City winger Cole Palmer is on the verge of completing his £40 million move to Stamford Bridge but Chelsea aren't finished there and have reportedly made a bid for 17-year-old Moscardo.

Transfer expert Romano shared the news on Thursday, tweeting: "Chelsea have presented formal bid to Corinthians for 2005 born top talent Gabriel Moscardo.

"Bid already discussed between clubs. Told Corinthians now want €25m to sell Moscardo and make it club record sale.

"It’d be a signing for the future."

But who is Moscardo and why are Chelsea so keen to sign him?

Brazilian born Moscardo was born in 2005 and plays as a defesnive midfielder for Corinthians, having only been promoted to their first team in July.

He has gone on to make ten senior appearances across all competitions and clearly caught the eye of Chelsea's scouts.

The youngster is expected to slot into the Blues’ Cobham youth system, but he is expected to remain with the Brazilian outfit until next summer.

UOL journalist Bruno Andrade claimed that Chelsea are preparing a bis of €21m plus €4m in add-ons.

"Moscardo is one step away from being the biggest sale in the history of Corinthians," Andrade tweeted.

"Chelsea is willing to pay 21 + 4 million euros (+ 10% of future sale), thus surpassing the 20 million euros paid by Benfica for Pedrinho in 2020. Young player would stay at Timão until Jun/24."
