Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a potential replacement for Thomas Tuchel.

German coach Tuchel is under increasing pressure at the Bavarian club after losing three matches in a row against Bayer Leverkusen, Lazio and Bochum.

Now, it has been reported that Bayern could turn to Solskjaer as a potential short-term candidate.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who wrote: “News #Solskjær: FC Bayern is monitoring the 50 y/o - as a potential interim solution!

“But the original plan remains: FC Bayern would like to continue with Thomas Tuchel at least until the end of the season!”

He added: “Bayern and Solskjær: Nothing concrete at this stage! The former ManUtd manager is a free agent and ready to take over a new project. Freund, he’s following the way of Solskjær for years.”

Solskjaer has been out of a job since he was sacked by United back in 2021.

After Bayern's dreadful 3-0 defeat by Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen, Tuchel's men were beaten by Lazio in the Champions League round of 16 first leg, to round off their awful week, the reigning German champions were beaten 3-2 by mid-table side Bochum.

On the back of the recent defeats, Tuchel is now under increasing pressure to turn things around.

Speaking after the match against Bochum, Tuchel said: “If you ask me, if I firmly still believe me and coaching staff can turn things around — yes.

“Growing pressure? That happens after every defeat. But today we never stopped, never stopped trying.”

Bayern CEO Jan Christian Dreesen was asked whether Tuchel will in charge of Bayern’s next match against RB Leipzig, he said: “Of course. I am not a fan of monstrous coach-backing statements — they usually run out after a week.

“But this [Tuchel’s future] is not an issue we are dealing with at the moment. We have to focus on our next matches.”
