After starting against Brighton in the Premier League last weekend, Jesus is in contention to keep his place in the starting XI for tonight's quarter-final first-leg tie.

Ahead of potentially playing against the German giants, the 27-year-old opened up on the injuries his body has suffered, revealing he can't remember the last time he played without pain.

"I don't remember the last time I played football without pain," he confessed in an honest assessment.

"I'm just trying to recover good to be ready. I personally don't normally want to talk about my fitness. After the World Cup, I had that injury in my knee and I recovered so well, but had a setback after the pre-season."

Jesus added: "I played in like three 90-minute games in a row and again a pain in the knee. Then after training, I had a kick in the knee. I'm just trying to get fit and help Arsenal as soon as I can. Unfortunately, I've been having some problems and people don't always see that. But mentally, I try to be strong in my mind. That's it."

Fans online expressed their sympathy for the star forward.

One X user wrote: "It’s sad but this is basically the life of every single professional footballer."

A second tweeted: "Further reminder that for professional athletes, “100%” is a myth. Risk mitigation, load management, pain tolerance, etc."

A third added: "That's so sad."

Jesus underwent surgery before the 2022 World Cup, ruling him out of the tournament in Qatar.

And he missed the start of this season after undergoing another surgery on his knee.

This season, he has played 28 games in all competitions.
