Formula 1 fans think they have worked out Max Verstappen's role in the upcoming movie about the sport starring Brad Pitt.

The movie, titled 'F1', is set to be released in the summer of 2025 and will star the likes of Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem.

Filming for the movie took place during the 2024 season, with film crew and actors often seen across different F1 Grand Prix weekends.

Pitt, who plays a character named Sonny Hayes, was seen on the top step of the podium during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, flanked by Mercedes star George Russell and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

In another image, Pitt was seen celebrating with Bardem on the podium, which could be a sneak peek into what the story could be.

Over the weekend, a teaser trailer was released for the movie and fans have speculated Verstappen's role within the film.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "THEY ARE ABOUT TO MAKE MAX THE VILLAIN OF THIS MOVIE I HAD ENOUGH."

Another tweeted: "Of course Max is the f***ing villain again."

A third fan added: "Not Max now villainised in the fictional F1 universe too."

Someone else wrote: "Oh so max IS gonna be the villain of the movie huh."

A fifth commented: "100 bucks says Max is the main villain of this movie." You can watch the teaser trailer below.

However, it has to be said that the above is purely fan speculation and it is yet to be confirmed whether Verstappen will have any role in the film.

Previously, seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton was praised by producer Jerry Bruckheimer for making sure the film is as realistic as possible.

He said: "Lewis keeps us honest. He looks at every race and he’d say, ‘you wouldn't be in second gear in this moment. You'd be in first’.

"He comes in and he can hear the engine and the shifting and everything like that. So he looks at every race scene, and he also said, ‘in order to get one of these cars, you really have to be in shape’."

Bruckheimer continued: "So we had Brad training. We do a lot of stuff like that, thanks to his info."
