Lewis Hamilton has addressed his worrying team radio exchange following the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix.

Despite the FIA bringing in a mandatory two-stop for this year's Monaco Grand Prix, McLaren's Lando Norris took victory in comfortable fashion from home hero Charles Leclerc.

The victory piles the pressure on championship leader Oscar Piastri who completed the podium, with Norris only three points behind his teammate in the drivers standings.

As he has been in all but one of this year's Grand Prix, Leclerc was the lead Ferrari ahead of new signing Hamilton who finished in fifth place.

It was a lonely race for Hamilton, who finished over 30 seconds behind fourth-placed Max Verstappen, however, the attention of fans turned to the Brit following a rather odd radio exchange.

During the race's closing stages, Hamilton asked his race engineer Riccardo Adami if he was still a minute behind the leaders.

However, the Italian engineer ignored the question and instead informed the seven-time world champion about Norris, Leclerc, and Piastri's lap times and the tyres they had fitted.

"You're not answering the question, but it doesn't really matter. I'm just asking, am I a minute behind or...?" Hamilton responded.

"48 seconds," Adami finally replied.

Following the chequered flag, Hamilton appeared to be met with radio silence when he asked: "Are you guys upset with me or something?"

Speaking in the media pen after the race, Hamilton was questioned on his frosty exchange with Adami and admitted there were communication issues on the Ferrari pit wall.

“It wasn't very clear... the information wasn't that clear. I didn't really understand 'this is our race'," Hamilton told the media.

“I didn't know what I was fighting for. Am I fighting for the next spot ahead? In actual fact when I look at the data I wasn't near anybody ahead."

He added: "I used up my tyres a lot in that moment, but I was so far away from them."

"With the penalty that I had, I obviously started in seventh. I was behind two cars for some time and then I managed to clear them and then I was in no man's land for a bit.

“I was really not racing anyone, I needed a Safety Car or something to come into play and it didn't happen. It was pretty straightforward from there.”
