Lewis Hamilton has already had his say on Adrian Newey joining him at Ferrari amid Red Bull exit rumours

Hamilton has had his say over the prospect of Adrian Newey making the move from Red Bull to Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton has already given his verdict on the future of Adrian Newey, following reports he will leave Red Bull Racing with Ferrari the favourites to sign the chief designer.

If reports from Sky Sports are to be believed, Newey has already decided to leave the reigning Formula 1 world champions following the recent controversy surrounding the team involving Christian Horner.

With the rumours of Newey's exit, Red Bull released the following statement: "Adrian is contracted until at least the end of 2025 and we are unaware of him joining any other team.”

Despite Red Bull's adamance, there is no news regarding Newey, it seems his decision has been made with Ferrari reportedly ahead of Aston Martin in the race to sign the designer.

"Ferrari (based in Italy) have been trying for over 20 years, to sign Adrian Newey and have been unsuccessful in that, however, some insiders at Aston Martin have been explaining to me that they think if he is to go somewhere else, it would be Ferrari potentially," Craig Slater revealed.

The acquisition of Newey would be huge for Ferrari, who look to be building the perfect team ahead of the new 2026 regulations.

Ferrari have already tied down 26-year-old Charles Leclerc to a long-term deal as well as replacing Carlos Sainz with Lewis Hamilton for the 2025 season and beyond.

Following his sensational switch to Ferrari, Hamilton spoke on the prospect of Newey making the same switch to the Italian team.

When asked on Newey's future Hamilton stated: "My move has shown anything is possible and it's going to be a really interesting next six months or so."

Ferrari haven't won a F1 championship since 2007, but the Scuderia will always be an attractive destination for those at the top of the sport, particularly Newey who can single-handedly bring a team to the front of the grid.

Similarly to the opportunity to drive for Ferrari, the prospect of designing a Ferrari F1 car is the ultimate privilege in Newey's profession.

Red Bull may have the recent success, but at the end of the day they are an energy drink advert, so Ferrari will always have that trump card over their rivals.
