Championship Trio Show Interest In Signing Manchester City Winger This Summer

During Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City made a host of signings that would go on to play a crucial role in their overwhelming success going forward.

Some additions during the 2016/17 campaign included the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane, John Stones, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.

One name that was expected to have a similar impact over time was Marlos Moreno.

The Colombian forward arrived with the reputation of being one of South America’s brightest prospects at 20 years of age.

Heading out on a season-long loan spell to Deportivo La Coruña, many had expected the tricky winger to thrive in the La Liga, before gradually making the cut for the Sky Blues.

However, fate did not have a blossoming career at Manchester City in store for the Colombian international, who is yet to make a single appearance for the club.

In total, Marlos Moreno has now experienced six different loan stints at clubs such as Deportivo, Girona, Flamengo, Santos Laguna, Portimonense, Lommel SK and K.V. Kortrijk.

The reality remains that Manchester City have cemented one of the most dominant eras in the history of English football without the 25 year-old’s presence.

Additionally, the former Atlético Nacional man is yet to make a strong enough impression that would either boost his chances of becoming a first-team player at the Sky Blues, or encourage several clubs to line up for his signature.

However, the vicious cycle of one loan stint after another could come to an end, as an English club has seemingly come calling for the Manchester City loanee.

As per a report by AS, as translated and relayed by The Pink Un, Norwich City are interested in signing Marlos Moreno ahead of next season.

However, Dean Smith’s side face competition from fellow Championship sides such as newly-promoted Sunderland and Bristol City.

It is claimed that the Canaries intend to inject creativity amongst their ranks in the ongoing window ahead of next season.

With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2023, the Premier League champions have a chance to cash in on the out-of-favour winger.

Marlos Moreno’s potential sale could add to a whole host of exits from the club, which have included the likes of Gabriel Jesus, CJ-Egan Riley, Gavin Bazunu, Romeo Lavia, Darko Gyabi, Pedro Porro and Ko Itakura so far.

Chelsea-bound Raheem Sterling, as well as Samuel Edozie - who looks set to join Bayer Leverkusen, could be added to this list as well.

Marlos Moreno could potentially experience a new lease of life in the Championship and kick his stagnating career back into gear by finally bidding farewell to Manchester City in the summer.
