Boxing star Aidos Yerbossynuly has been placed in a medically induced coma after copping a brutal knockout blow from WBA regular super middleweight world champion David Morrell.
The blow came in the 12th round after Morrell had predicted he would put the Kazakhstan boxer to sleep.
He proceeded to do just that with right-handed uppercut that caught his opponent flush.
The Cuban champion proceeded to celebrate with Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature ‘suii’ celebration and dance.

However, stopped to quickly help Yerbossynuly to his feet and over to his opponent as he looked to struggle to keep his legs and looked on the verge of collapsing.
It was a lopsided win for Morrell who had dominated every round, with many questioning why the bout hadn’t been called off earlier.
It was later revealed that the Kazakhstani had been placed in a coma following surgery after bleeding was found on the brain, as per reporter Dan Rafael.

The fighter’s assistant trainer Emanuel Savoy admitted he had wanted to throw in the towel by the ninth or tenth round.
However, Aidos and his head coach wanted him to continue.
Savoy told ESPN: “I actually had the towel in my hand.

“Aidos wanted to continue. His head coach (Kanat Orakbaev) wanted him to continue. He evaluated Aidos and said nothing was wrong with him.
“He acknowledged the ref (referee Tony Weeks). He looked up and said, yes, he wanted to continue. As a corner, I think he still wanted to fight. He wanted to fight all the way to the end.
“He’s a great guy. I don’t even want to talk about it no more because I’m sick to my stomach at this point. I just hope for a speedy recovery for Aidos.”
Morell’s trainer Ronnie Shields, on the other hand, couldn’t believe the fight hadn’t been stopped earlier.

Shields told BoxingScene.com: “That fight should’ve been stopped sooner.
“They let this kid take way too much punishment. But even the referee, and Tony Weeks is a really good ref, but sometimes you’ve gotta go to the corner and say, ‘Hey man, y’all need to stop this.’ And that’s when (Yerbossynuly) started fighting dirty, because he didn’t wanna get knocked out.”
“It was all pride. I commend the guy for taking all that punishment, but you’ve gotta save guys from themselves.
“He took way too many punches. And you know what? This kid might never be able to fight again. That’s how bad it was.”

Yerbossynuly has previously been 16-0 undefeated and was the mandatory challenger for Morrell’s title.
