Real Madrid wantaway Gareth Bale was playing golf at the same time as his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports in Spain.

The Wales international, 30, did not travel with the squad as Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane claimed he was unwell to make the trip to Munich.

But Spanish outlet El Confidencial took a snapshot of Bale playing golf at the same time as Zidane's men were in action against Spurs in the Audi Cup semi-final.

Bale, who was told he could leave Madrid in the summer, reportedly told his teammates in May that he would play golf if the club didn't let him leave.

"I've got three years left on my contract. If they want me to go, they'll need to pay me €17m per season. If not, I'll stay here. And if I have to play golf, I will," he allegedly said.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Madrid winger had not travelled with the squad after his stunning move to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning collapsed.

But 'Zizou,' 47, insisted that he didn't travel due to his transfer falling through.

"He didn't travel with us because he just didn't feel well. The doctors said it would be better if he stayed in Madrid. He trains there," the Madrid boss said.

"It was a decision that was made between the medical department, me and him. And that's it."

Zidane came out publicly this month to say that the ex-Spurs star didn't fit in his plans at the club.

And his comments sparked an angry response from Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, who called the Frenchman a "disgrace."

He said: "Zidane is a disgrace to speak like that about someone who has done so much for Real.

"If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing."

Will Bale leave Madrid this summer?
