We've had a quiet time of things recently but that's been more down to time constraints rather than anything else.

Hopefully we can kick-start some profit today with the first day of Chester's May Festival taking centre-stage. Action on the turf also takes place at Bath in the evening, Chelmsford on the All Weather also in the evening, whilst Kelso and Newton Abbot host afternoon jump cards. Dundalk hosts an evening All Weather meeting in Ireland.

Here are Danny Archer's selections...

Celebrate in style with Station at Bath

8:05: Bath - Celestation 2/1.

Unlucky not to score at Pontefract on seasonal reappearance when a head second in what looked a very decent contest. He led throughout that day and kept on gamely that day. He should be able to get another easy lead here and he rates as a strong fancy.

Michel taken to score at Chelmsford

6:55: Chelmsford City - Salamah 5/1 Each Way.

Disappointing at Newmarket in September in a nursery but this three-year-old filly had earlier won by a head on her first start over six furlongs here. The step up in trip to a mile should suit her and she looks decent each way value.

7:55: Chelmsford City - St Michel 5/2.

On form, he takes a lot of beating as he finished a creditable third in the Doncaster Cup before finishing in midfield in the Cesarewitch. He should be fine tuned for his seasonal debut and he looks a Sir Mark Prescott stayer who will only improve as he gets older.

8:25: Chelmsford City - Elucidation 6/4 Next Best.

Never involved in a very hot contest at Newmarket on his seasonal reappearance with that race working out pretty well. He didn't seem too suited by the track that day and whilst he has never run on All Weather, he is related to some high class individuals and it would be disappointing if he could not regain the winning thread.

O'Brien's charge has Allure at Chester

1:50: Chester - Requinto Dawn 11/4.

Debut winner before finishing second at Musselburgh last month. Has experience and can put it to good use here.

2:25: Chester - Alluringly 6/4 NAP.

When a man's in form, he stick with him and Aidan O'Brien can do no wrong at the moment. His daughter of Fastnet Rock is related to Derby winner Sea The Stars and she finally got head in front when hosing up at Tipperary last month. She was always destined to be a better three-year-old and I expect serious improvement from her this year.

3:00: Chester - El Astronaute 5/2

Has the plum draw in stall 1 and won for us at Newmarket last time when gamely getting up to win by a short-head. A course and distance winner as well, this four-year-old son of Approve could prove tough to peg back.

3:35: Chester - Who Dares Win 5/1 Each Way (1/4) and Sir Chauvelin 14/1 Each Way.

Who Dares Wins is well drawn and operates off a decent mark of 94. A winner here in July 2016, course form is always important and the re-addition of cheekpieces is also a positive.

Sir Chauvelin has been in fine fettle thus far this term and was a creditable second at Ripon last time when staying on well from the back of the field. Third at this track in May 2016, that is also a positive and he might get a bit of luck drawn in stall 11.

4:05: Chester - Stradivarius 15/8.

John Gosden's colt was a facile winner at Beverley last month creating a favourable impression. He looks very talented and is a horse to keep on the right side of.

Where is the Love for Nuit at Newton Abbot

3:10: Newton Abbot - Amour De Nuit 2/1.

Easy victory last time and whilst he has to shoulder a double penalty, he is a course and distance winner and excels on this ground.

Fast to prove too quick for rivals at Dundalk

8:15: Dundalk - Fastidious 6/1 Each Way (1/4).

A course and distance winner who ran very well to finish third at this track over seven furlongs and looks set to go close with same conditions in his favour.

3/1 Win Treble

2:05: Newton Abbot - Brillare Momento.

Tough to look past Martin Keighly's charge who was ultra-impressive when gamely fending off some talented rivals at Cheltenham last time. This is a far weaker even and he she can gain another victory.

5:55: Chelmsford City - Inconceivable.

Regally bred filly, she ran a nice race behind a potential Oaks contender at Newbury in April. She is sure to have learnt plenty for that experience and she stayed on nicely that day.

8:55: Chelmsford City - Grieg Hall.

Lovely introduction when fifth at Newmarket in April. Should have learnt a lot from that and with Halling colt's normally being quite forward, he should take the beating at the second time of asking.
