FM Legend Diego Capel Received Stunning Offer From League Two Side

In one of the weirdest transfer stories in recent memory, League Two side Notts County made an offer to Spanish winger Diego Capel.

The 30-year old, who has been without a club since leaving Belgian outfit Anderlecht last season, turned out for Sevilla and Sporting CP in his career and is a two-time UEFA Cup winner.

A few days back, the Daily Mail reported that the Magpies had made Capel a massive £15,000-a-week offer for him to aid their promotion push.

That sum would have made Capel, capped two times by Spain, the highest-paid player in League Two by some distance. Luton Town's Luke Berry earns £3,500 and is currently the highest-earner in the fourth tier.

However, despite a "very good offer" being made, Kevin Nolan said the player turned it down and also added that the reported wage was not correct.

"There were discussions between Alan (Hardy, the club's owner) and the player's agent," he said, as per the Nottingham Post.

"We made him an offer which was very good for this league but it was nowhere near what has been printed.

"It was a very good offer for somebody who has been out of football for six months or so.

"He decided not to take it and that's how far it got. The deal hasn't worked out and we move on."

Being honest, we're a bit gutted that this has fell through as it would have been a signing straight out of Football Manager.

Ah well, we'll just wait for his inevitable move to Non-League side Billericay Town to play alongside Jermaine Pennant and Jamie O'Hara.
