Chelsea plotting shock move for Aaron Ramsdale, Bayern Munich also interested

Chelsea plotting shock move for Aaron Ramsdale, Bayern Munich also interested

Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a move away from Arsenal.

Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a sensational move away from Arsenal after he was replaced against Everton.

David Raya, who joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Brentford this summer, made his debut for the club in their 1-0 win at Goodison Park last Sunday.

The 25-year-old was benched for the Premier League clash as fans came up with a theory as to why he was dropped.

Mikel Arteta played down his decision to replace Ramsdale with Raya, with the England international linked with a stunning transfer to Arsenal's rivals Chelsea.

He's also been courted by Bayern Munich, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues snapped up Robert Sanchez from Brighton in the summer as well as Djordje Petrovic but are thought to be in the market for a new goalkeeper ahead of the January transfer window.

As for the Bundesliga giants, they recruited Daniel Peretz during the summer transfer window and are looking for Manuel Neuer's long-term replacement.

Ramsdale signed for the Gunners in 2021 and has made 83 appearances in all competitions since joining the Emirates outfit, including 41 games last season.

He's played four of Arsenal's five league matches this season, with Arteta explaining his thought process behind the selection against Everton.

"It's the same rationale that Fabio [Vieira] played here or Eddie [Nketiah] played instead of Gabriel Jesus," he said.

"I haven't had a single question on why Gabriel Jesus hasn't started and he's won more trophies than anyone, including me, in that dressing room.

"I cannot have two players like this in one position and not play them. David has tremendous qualities like Aaron has, like Karl [Hein] has, but we have to use them you know."

Ramsdale signed a new four-year contract with Arsenal in May and could return to the starting XI on Wednesday when they begin their Champions League campaign against PSV Eindhoven.
