Big Sam is back!

Sam Allardyce is back in manager. The former Bolton Wanderers manager has taken the job at Crystal Palace vacated just yesterday by Alan Pardew, earning a two and a half year deal.

Big Sam was England manager at the beginning of the season but lasted just one match before his sacking because of the newspaper sting he was caught up in.

His 100% record as national manager has clearly attracted the bosses at Selhurst Park who have reportedly been in talks with Allardyce for the past two weeks.

Palace yesterday sacked Alan Pardew after a dreadful 2016 for the team. They have the worst league record for the calendar year, were quite lucky to survive relegation last season and would need to be even luckier this season.

Keith Millen was put in charge of the team on a temporary basis yesterday and will manage the team during the Boxing Day fixture against Watford.

Millen was asked about the former West Ham manager during his pre match press conference earlier today saying, "He's an experienced Premier League manager, he's been successful, he knows the game, he knows how to set a team up and did a great job at Sunderland keeping them up.

"We've lost an experienced manager, but Sam is someone who has been there and done it."

Some people believe the timing of Pardew's sacking was a little harsh. After a run of six games without a win they finally got a 3-0 win over Southampton before a draw against Hull and battling losses to Manchester United and Chelsea.

However the 55 year old had obviously lost the trust of the board and they decided to make a change before the January transfer window, presumably to allow the new man the chance to sign players.

Last season Allardyce saved Sunderland from relegation and Palace fans will be hoping he performs similar miracles!
