Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has responded to reports that suggest a move to Liverpool could be on the cards for the youngster.

The 23-year-old has been linked to a move away from Stamford Bridge to the Reds after recent contract talks reportedly stalled.

The Chelsea man has a contract with the London club for the next 18 months, however, an extension is yet to be agreed.

Mount has been included in England's World Cup squad under Gareth Southgate and is not prepared to discuss his club future whilst at a major tournament.

Jurgen Klopp's men have been short of midfielders this season and have certainly noticed it.

Mount: I know media focus on me

“I have always been so focused on my football since I was in the academy,” Mount said speaking about his future. “I know now there is a lot more media focus on me, but I do not look too much into that. I block it out.”

The England midfielder was then asked about the environment within the England squad ahead of the tournament: “We are a very together group where everyone knows their role,” he said via the Evening Standard.

“You also have leaders who step up in the big games and, as a player, that is always something I want to do and what I want to be. I want to lead and play a big part. But we are all together in this tournament. If you start or don’t start, you want to come on and have an impact, be good around the boys.

“We know what we can do as a group. At a World Cup anything can happen. Our goal is to go one more step, win it and make the country proud.”
