Southampton star James Ward-Prowse has divided fans on social media after his controversial picks in a ‘this or that challenge’ on football questions.

Ranging from Eden Hazard vs Gareth Bale to Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi, Ward-Prowse drifted right or left to reveal his verdict on hotly debated comparisons.

A handful of past and present Liverpool players featured in questions as well, including Steven Gerrard vs Frank Lampard and Virgil van Dijk vs Vincent Kompany.

Fans found Ward-Prowse leaning towards Liverpool on more than one occasion, including picking ex-Reds star Xabi Alonso over Manchester United legend Paul Scholes (watch it in the video player below).

“Jurgen, sign him, now, he’s clearly a fan. And he’ll do bits in our midfield,” one fan said.

Someone else added: “JWP, please come to Liverpool.”

A third wrote: “Can’t wait for JWP to join Liverpool.”

While another posted: “Tell me you’re a Liverpool fan without telling me you’re a Liverpool fan.”

Not every fan agreed with Ward-Prowse’s choices, with some social media users calling him out for having “zero ball knowledge.”

One TikTok user commented: “He doesn’t know football at all.”

And a second wrote: “After the first two, I stopped watching.”

“Zero ball knowledge,” one fan said.

A fourth posted: “Bro is begging for Liverpool to notice him and sign him.”
