A Non-League team in America have hit the headlines after agreeing a sponsorship deal with Porn site RedTube.

The deal with RedTube and Washington Squire FC was actually wrapped up in August 2016, with the adult site having their logo emblazoned on the club's kits.

But the story is doing the rounds again, with the American side continuing their link by selling RedTube-themed merchandise such as hats, shirts in order to raise funds for the club.

The Massachusetts-based club have christened themselves 'The RedTube Army' as the minnows look to continue to build a following.

They have been particularly active in using the '#RedTubeArmy' on social media, where they have 767 followers on Twitter:

They've even tried to get Mario Balotelli onboard...

Formed in 2013, the RedTube arrangement actually came about from the drunken thoughts of a few of the club's players, and eventually it all came to fruition.

"The thought came from one of our former players (tore his ACL) Jaime Skelton, a forward for us came from Union College and played there for 4-years, and has now moved to New York to do creative writing for big time shows.

"He and I were slightly intoxicated one night with a few other players and we were joking about getting sponsored by a Porn Company,"club captain and Bayern Munich fan Jon Klippert said to American Pyramid Blog back in November.

"We thought it would be funny but also, I thought of it as one of those jokes where it's funny but would never happen. But Jaime has a great talent for writing and is one for great whit. So, he crafted a letter then he and I did some edits, took a screenshot and sent it to RedTube's Twitter

"Here is where we met Emma, who runs their social media account and as soon as it went up, we got over 50 likes and are still getting more.

"She DM'd us and I spoke with here about what would be in the details of the agreement. She was awesome and really helpful and to be honest, I still can't believe it happened. It's actually pretty legendary because no one else has this from the top teams all the way down to amateurs."

Even though there have naturally been some negative reactions, Squire's profile has been boosted significantly by the sponsorship, with the skipper also explaining in a recent interview with Boston Club that the club have been sending shirts to all corners of the world.

"I have people that I'm shipping jerseys to in Malaysia, Australia, all over Europe. What we're doing is shining a light on something that people don't pay attention to and that's amateur soccer."
