Kobbie Mainoo's emergence has seen Man United 'cancel' transfer plan

Kobbie Mainoo's impressive progression has caused Manchester United to rethink transfer plans.

Kobbie Mainoo's emergence has caused Manchester United to rethink their transfer plans, reports claim.

The 18-year-old made his third Premier League start for United on Sunday, impressing in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Mainoo was not overawed by the occasion in the slightest and showed his maturity in midfield yet again.

Erik ten Hag raved about the youngster in his post-match press conference, tipping him to make more of an impact in the near future.

"If you are good enough, you are old enough and he proved that,” the Dutchman said.

“When he gets used more often to those games, we will get even more joy from it. Because then his scanning and his speed of action, he can get such passes, three or four passes in and get switches in, and he is the player who can really hurt opponents."

Mainoo was with the first-team for pre-season and suffered an unfortunate injury against Real Madrid, which kept him out for the early months.

The academy graduate looked at home in his first competitive start against Everton and according to The Sun, his form means United are unlikely to snap up Sofyan Amrabat permanently.

The Morocco international joined United on loan from Fiorentina on deadline day, with the Red Devils paying a fee of £8.5 million.

They do have the option to purchase him outright at the end of the season for £21.4 million but it's looking like United may pass on the chance.

Amrabat has played 17 times but the former Feyenoord man hasn't got going at United and it's said there are concerns as to whether he is cut out from the demands of the Premier League.

And is such, the word is that Ten Hag is "already planning" on him heading back to Italy in the summer.
