Odds slashed on shock name to replace Erik ten Hag with Man Utd manager's future uncertain

Odds slashed on shock name to replace Erik ten Hag with Man Utd manager's future uncertain

A surprise name has been linked with Man Utd.

Odds have been slashed on a shock candidate to replace Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager.

After an encouraging first season under Erik ten Hag, Man United have endured a disappointing campaign.

The Premier League giants have already lost 11 league games this season, and need a miracle to qualify for next season's Champions League.

United face a summer of change as new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to return the club to the top of European club football, and he could decide that Ten Hag is not the manager for the job.

Speculation has been building in recent months that the Dutch coach will be dismissed, with Ineos chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe not convinced by his work this year.

Now the odds have been slashed on a surprise candidate to potentially replace Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Julian Nagelsmann is currently the head coach of the German national team, and is busy preparing his side ahead of a home European Championship.

The Former Bayern Munich boss took the Germany job in September, but his current contract will expire after the upcoming Euros.

The 36-year-old was an outsider for the United job, but Betfair have now slashed his odds from 25/1 to 9/1.

England manager Gareth Southgate has been heavily linked with the top job at Old Trafford, with his contract at the Football Association set to expire in December.

The 53-year-old is the favourite at 5/2, followed by former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter at 4/1.

Potter has been out of work since his disastrous 7 month spell in charge of Chelsea came to an end in April last year.

Thomas Tuchel, who will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, is another candidate, as is Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim, although he is wanted by both Liverpool and Barcelona.
