Jamie Carragher has deleted his most recent tweet following backlash for a controversial joke the former Liverpool man made regarding Kate Abdo during CBS's coverage of Arsenal vs Porto.

Arsenal secured their place in the final eight of the Champions League on penalties after Leandro Trossard leveled the aggregate score in the first half.

The Gunners will have David Raya to thank as the Spaniard made two outstanding saves to his left to secure victory for Arsenal in the shootout.

Despite Mikel Arteta's men breaking a club record in the process, the main talking point from the CBS broadcast wasn't the football, instead, Carragher has stolen the headlines after suggesting Abdo has not been loyal in her relationship with Malik Scott.

The comment came about after both Carragher and Micah Richards both wore an Arsenal shirt and the former Liverpool man told Abdo that it was now her turn to sport the jersey.

Abdo quickly rejected Carragher's request and responded: "No I'm loyal."

The former Liverpool defender then brought an awkward silence on the studio panel with a joke that has caused uproar on social media.

"Loyal to who? Not to Malik," Carragher said.

Despite Carragher's attempt to diffuse the awkward moment with laughter, it was evident that the joke did not sit well with the panel, prompting a sharp response from Abdo.

"What? Why would you even say that?" Abdo told the former Liverpool defender.

Carragher is yet to make a comment on the controversy, but the 46-year-old did make a post on X this morning, regarding his decision to wear the same Arsenal shirt that Abdo refused.

"Saka is a top player and if he tells you to put on an Arsenal top, it's hard to say no," Carragher posted.

The post was swiftly deleted and although the reason for doing so is unknown, it appears it is likely due to the backlash Carragher is currently undergoing on the platform.
