WWE NXT UK superstar Trent Seven has joked that he 'can't believe' WWE legends Shawn Michaels and Triple H are his bosses.

British wrestler Seven spoke on a conference call on Tuesday afternoon to promote NXT UK's debut on Paramount tonight, and discussed WWE's third brand.

The NXT shows are watched over by former D-Generation X stars Paul 'Triple H' Levesque and HBK - a fact Seven can't get his head around.

"Over Christmas I went back to my hometown of sunny Wolverhampton, and obviously you spend a bit of time back at the old pubs. I was seeing old school friends, and someone asked me if I was still doing the wrestling - and I was like, 'Yeah, yeah I'm still doing the wrestling'.

"They go, 'Oh who are you working for now?' And I just had to reply with 'D-X', because that's who I work for. I work for Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Road Dogg Jesse James - and that is my life, which is the most incredible and amazing answer to a question I've ever had to give.

"Between Shawn and Triple H you've got two of arguably the greatest of all time. With the learning curve for NXT and NXT UK, I think it's been made so much steeper by having such wise minds guide us."

Seven is currently a part of 'Moustache Mountain' with tag partner Tyler Bate, and are one of the companies best teams.

The duo are former NXT Tag Team Champions but are yet to capture the UK version of the belts.

Seven described defeating The Undisputed Era for the gold back in 2018 as the 'highlight of his career', but the Wolverhampton native admitted that the NXT UK tag titles are in his and Bate's sights in 2020.

When SPORTbible asked if it's a goal they wanted to achieve by the end of this year, Seven replied with:

"100%. As soon as they [NXT UK Tag Titles] got announced it was something we were after.

"We fell short two years ago in Blackpool but I don't feel like we've had the same opportunities to go after those titles again.

"I'll never stop wanting the NXT UK Tag Team Titles, my heart is with this brand and it's something that I want to do."

Seven and Bate are also part of a stable named 'British Strong Style', with fellow Brit Pete Dunne.

Dunne is currently tag teaming with NXT star Matt Riddle and Seven admitted he'd take 'The Original Bro' into 'BSS'.

"They're just amazing. I'd happily have Matt as the fourth member of British Strong Style but as he's American, that could be pushing the boundaries a bit too far," the 38-year-old said.

"But he can be an honouree member. The team of Pete and Matt is just an unbelievable force.

"One of the greatest real wrestlers in the world and one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the world. I can't imagine the wealth of knowledge coming together."

Dunne and Riddle, also known as the 'BroserWeights', defeated the Grizzled Young Veterans [Zack Gibson and James Drake] last Wednesday to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

They'll take on The Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Team Championships at 'Takeover: Portland' in two weeks time.

Seven thinks there's every chance in the world the duo can walk out as new tag champs.

"The result is right there in front of us. They're the Dusty Cup champions and who knows, they could pick up the tag team championships too.

"They're two really great guys and they just look like they're having loads of fun. That's the main thing. Just make sure you have fun with what you do.

"I look at the promos and the way they talk and it's just huge fun. They're getting the job done too. There's no better feeling in wrestling. So fair play to them."

Seven also discussed where he'd want the next Takeover event to be after two successful shows in Blackpool and one in Cardiff.

"There's so many incredible towns and cities in the UK that have been strongholds for professional wrestling for some time.

"We're going to try and slowly tick off those boxes and get every 'wrestle-pocket' their own NXT Takeover moment."

However, he let his hometown love shine through and joked:

"If you really want my answer, there needs to be one in Wolverhampton!"
