Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson opened up on his battle with depression during an emotional interview with SPORTbible.

The biggest movie star in the world revealed he struggled with mental health problems when he realised his NFL dream would never become a reality.

"All my friends were living their dream and I was living a nightmare," he said. "I fell into depression at that time."

In our 'What It Takes' format, The Rock also discussed how he became the face of the WWE and then the biggest movie star in the world.

Johnson was also shown a photo from when he was on the front cover of Time Magazine in April as one of the most influential people in the world.

Reflecting on the interview, Johnson tweeted: "On press junkets I rarely get to speak this candidly & reflective on life's experiences - successes and more importantly, my failures.

"This interview was a nice and unexpected energetic shift during my Hobbs and Shaw junket."
