It's the news that all wrestling fans would have been hoping for but none would have been expecting. With Wrestlemania just around the corner Daniel Bryan has been cleared to compete once again.

Bryan was a fan's favourite on the indie scene long before he joined WWE but was never expected to be one of the main guys, he made his way up the card and into the fans hearts and by Wrestlemania 30 he was the man.

In one of the best storylines of recent years the ultimate underdog became World Champion on April 16th 2014 in New Orleans but the incredible high didn't last long and he was soon injured for months, having to give up the title.

When he did eventually return it led to him winning the Intercontinental title at Wrestlemania 31, giving him a second amazing moment in two years but it was short lived again as just a month later a second injury would keep him out for good. In 2016 he retired from in ring action.

Since then Bryan has tried to get himself cleared, visiting numerous doctors whilst performing a non wrestling role for WWE. However this evening the company released a statement confirming his return, saying:

"Following more than two years of extensive evaluations, four-time World Champion Daniel Bryan has been medically cleared to return to in-ring competition by leading neurosurgeons, neurologists and concussion experts, including Dr. Robert Cantu, Dr. Javier Cárdenas and Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher.

"Bryan underwent a full review of his medical history and received comprehensive neurological and physical evaluations independent of WWE. He was cleared by each doctor as well as WWE's Medical Director, Dr. Joseph Maroon.

In a great irony Wrestlemania 34 is just around the corner and will once again be held in New Orleans and the former 'indie darling' is expected to compete in a tag-team match with Shane McMahon against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. For so many fans it's the best news they've heard in ages:

They'll be a lot of eyes on Smackdown Live tonight, that much is sure.

We can't wait to see him back in the ring again.
