WWE sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world after Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX in 2014 to end the Deadman's legendary streak.

It feels like a lifetime ago, right? Well, it's a moment that divided many, many fans for a number of reasons, whether it was Lesnar that should have ended it, if it was the right time to do it or if he should have retired undefeated at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

While history can't be rewritten now, it looks like there was one former WWE superstar that had his name thrown into the hat when it came to ending The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak.

Bruce Prichard, the senior vice president of the WWE creative team, revealed on his Something to Wrestle podcast that WWE CEO and owner Vince McMahon wanted Mark Henry to break the streak.

"I was sitting at my desk in Houston and Vince calls me and says, 'I've got an idea. What do you think about ending Undertaker's streak?'" he said (via Wrestling Inc.). "I said, 'Well, with the right guy he's made.'

"He says, 'Goddamn, that big bastard Mark Henry -- he's ready!' There was silence.

WWE

"I'm like, 'Really?' Mark had been here ten years and it wasn't anything against Mark, but I didn't think that Mark Henry beating and ending the streak would catapult him to the next level."

Of course, The Undertaker took on the WWE Hall of Famer at WrestleMania 22 in a Casket Match, but the Phenom emerged victoriously and extended his streak to 14-0 at the time.

So, what happened to Henry ending it?

Well, Prichard went on to explain that The Undertaker worked with the WWE creative team on making it happen. However, McMahon made the decision to pull the plug on the plan.

"I ran it by him [Undertaker] and his reaction was the same as mine," Prichard recalled. "It was pretty much silence, and he asked what I thought and I told him, 'I don't think it's a good idea, but try it on. See if there's something you think that might work.'

WWE

"He came back and said, 'OK, if that's what you guys want to do -- if that's really what Vince wants.'

"Vince, as we got closer to it, got cold feet I guess and just realised that maybe Mark wasn't ready at that time for it, and I don't know that there was a real solid plan on the other side either to make it work.

"[Paul] Heyman hated it. I don't know anybody that was like, 'Wooo hooo! Let's go do this,' other than Vince. Sometimes you just got to try s**t on and throw it out there.

"Sometimes you throw it out there and you need to just throw it the f**k away, too, but that's how we got there."

Henry wasn't the only man that was considered to break the streak before Lesnar, especially as Kurt Angle claimed in a 2017 AMA on Reddit that The Undertaker wanted him to do the honours.

WWE

"Undertaker did go to me in January of that year and said: 'Listen, I think we should talk to Vince. I know you're champion. I know they don't want to go with me as champion, so I'm willing to lose if we have to. I never had that WrestleMania match that I wanted and I know that I can have it with you,'" he said.

"He encouraged me to talk with Vince. It was never thought of. Vince never thought of it.

"As a matter of fact, Vince shot it down right away! But it was an idea Undertaker had. It wasn't an idea I had. It wasn't an idea Vince was thinking of doing."

Lesnar would eventually break the streak in shocking fashion at WrestleMania, with 'Taker' later taking on the likes of Bray Wyatt, Shane McMahon, Roman Reigns, John Cena and AJ Styles - the latter appearing to be the Phenom's last every opponent at the show of shows.
