Becky Lynch became the first woman to win a Wrestlemania main event when she defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair to become RAW and Smackdown women's champion.

Wrestlemania 35 made history as the women's title match headlined the show as main event with both the RAW and Smackdown titles on the line.

It had been rumoured for the past year that Ronda Rousey would headline Wrestlemania in 2019 but it was never certain who the former UFC champion's opponent would be. After a brilliant rivalry between Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in ended up being a triple threat match between them all.

Lynch was very much the fan favourite going into the 'Granddaddy of Them All' but it was Rousey and Flair who held gold for the two different shows, with Charlotte beating Asuka 10 days ago to make the main event for both titles.

All three women had done incredible work in the weeks leading up to 'Mania' to give their fight a real main event feel to it and on the night Flair helicoptered into the arena and Rousey was played in by Joan Jett playing Bad Reputation.

It was a real back and forth match between the trio, after a long night of great entertainment, and they continued to prove why they deserved to be the main event.

In the end it was 'The Man' who prevailed with the Irish Lass Kicker countering Rousey's attempt at a submission move and rolling her up for the pin.

The Irish wrestler is now the unified women's champion and it's the third time she's got her hands on the Smackdown belt and the second time for the Raw title.

As well as the women's title match going on last it was also the first time the Women's Tag Titles had been defended at the Granddaddy of them all, with the Iconics beating the Boss and Hug Connection, Nia and Tamina and Natty and Beth Phoenix to the gold.

It's been an incredible year for the women's division and after a successful first main event at Mania there's no reason there couldn't be more in years to come.

For now though this is a night to acknowledge that Becky Lynch really is the man!
