Dana White has set the combat sports world abuzz overnight, after posting a picture of himself with former UFC Heavyweight champion and current WWE Universal champion, Brock Lesnar.

The picture, taken in Las Vegas, yesterday, has immediately set tongues wagging about a possible second return to the UFC for Lesnar, who initially returned in 2016 to defeat Mark Hunt by decision at UFC 200. The decision was then overturned when it transpired that Lesnar had failed a drugs test on the day of the event.

Lesnar subsequently began serving a year long suspension from MMA, of which he served six months before retiring from the sport, seemingly to focus on his WWE career, where he has been Universal Champion on the company's Raw brand since defeating Bill Goldberg for the title at WrestleMania 33, last April.

The six months remaining on The Beast's suspension has since been frozen, meaning if he were to return to the octagon, he would still have to see out half a year on the sidelines. Yet a return has been rumoured for several months, now, with the former UFC Heavyweight champion's contract with the WWE coming to an end after WrestleMania 34 on 8th April, in New Orleans, where he is scheduled to defend his Universal Title against number one contender, Roman Reigns.

And while, according to reports, Vince McMahon and co could exercise the option to extend Lesnar's deal through several dates until August, it likely wouldn't stop Lesnar returning to UFC if he decided he still had unfinished business in the world of MMA.

Lesnar is reportedly scheduled to appear on Monday Night Raw, tonight, explaining why he was in Las Vegas, where WWE hosted their Elimination Chamber Pay-Per-View, last night. The 40-year-old will likely address his WrestleMania main event with Reigns, who he faced in the main event of WrestleMania 31, three years ago. But questions will remain about what his meeting with White, involved.

Last year, rumours were rife that White was planning a Lesnar comeback fight against Jon Jones, only for Jones to be found guilty of doping once again, after defeating Daniel Cormier for the UFC Light Heavyweight title at UFC 214, in July. The decision was overturned and the title subsequently returned to Cormier.

Expect this story to run and run for the next few months.
