CM Punk has hinted that a return to WWE could be closer than ever by revealing in a Q&A that all it would take for him to return is a 'very big bag' of money.

The former WWE champion left the company in 2014 and claimed after that he was "never ever" going to return to wrestling.

So far Punk has stuck to that but his position on WWE has softened and he recently spoke to FOX about being on a show covering the week's events on Smackdown.

Now on a Reddit 'Ask Me Anything' the 40-year-old has revealed what it would take to return to WWE. Reddit user AlexMythic asked, "Hey Phil, this is an AMA so i'm gonna be that guy, I apologize in advance; is a WWE Return ever possible?"

With Punk replying, "Oh of course i'm going to get asked that, no need to apologize! It'd have to be a very big bag."

It has previously seemed that even all the money in the world wouldn't have been enough to get the straight edged superstar back in WWE but it looks like things have changed.

What makes the statement even more interesting are the company's new tv deal with FOX as well as the deal which sees two big shows a year held in Saudi Arabia.

FOX want to present the product more as a real sport on Punk's, real name Phil Brooks, stint in UFC would add to that, despite his two losses in the octagon.

The former three time WWE Heavyweight champion also still has massive star power that would no doubt get more people watching the show.

The huge money that Saudi Arabia throws at its two shows a year may also be a way to get the 'Best in the World' back in the ring.

In recent years WWE has brought back legends like Shawn Michaels, Triple H and the Undertaker to compete on shows whilst Tyson Fury and Cain Velasquez are due to compete for the first time at the Crown Jewel show on October 31st.

Previously it was expected that Punk could have made a return to competing with new company All Elite Wrestling.

The former WWE employee appeared on Starrcast ahead of AEW's All Out show and rumours that he'd sign for the company were very intense but came to nothing.

Will Punk end up competing for WWE again?
