Edge caused a huge surprise at the Royal Rumble on Sunday night by entering the Rumble match, and making his return to action after nine years out of the ring.

Heading into the Rumble there was lots of rumours about potential returning stars and earlier in the night the women's match had failed to see either Victoria or Ronda Rousey return.

There was no such disappointment in the men's match with R Rated Superstar entering into the Rumble to compete for the first time since he retired in April 2011, just one night after that years Wrestlemania.

Edge had to retire due to a serious neck injury and claimed he could have been in serious long term danger if he hit another spear, his trademark finisher.

But the 12 time world champion looked in incredible form when he got to the ring, after his huge pop, and hit several big spears in a row to rapturous cheers from the crowd.

The 46-year-old had appeared on television for WWE in the past nine years, as a pundit and in some wrestling angles, as well as appearing on the Edge and Christian Show on the WWE Network, but was never expected to compete again in the ring.

Edge had a stare down with AJ Styles and eventually eliminated the Phenomenal One and later had an awesome reunion with former 'Rated RKO' teammate Randy Orton to eliminate The Club.

An incredible comeback on a brilliant night.
