MMA Fighter's Arm Injury Is One Of The Most Gruesome Ever

This is not for the squeamish...

MMA has the ability to make us wince at the big shots, unreal knockouts and injuries that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy- well unless you really don't like your worst enemy.

Like boxing, MMA speaks to us on a very primal level. There's something about two guy smacking the living daylights out of each other that a lot of people absolutely love, it's really old school.

Of course plenty of us who enjoy the sports wouldn't be seen dead inside the ring or cage, or at least we'd start by being alive and soon be dead after a couple of hits, so thanks to those who put themselves through all that for our watching pleasure.

Jerome Rivera might regret being one of those men after his arm seemed to go completely backwards during his clash with Brandon Royval at Legacy Fighting Alliance 39 in Vail, Colorado.

Poor Jerome won't even have a cool scar for his troubles, unlike British MMA Fighter Jack Mason who recently received one of the nastiest gashes you're likely to see after an MMA fight.

Mason was cut right above the eye after some vicious knee strikes.

The welterweight took on Foss but it wasn't exactly a long fight. The Norwegian, coming off of two losses, exploded out of the gates and with three minutes left of the first round hit Mason flush with a flying knee to the head and followed it with more knee strikes and left and right combination punches:

After the fight John Maguire took to Twitter with a video of the aftermath of Mason's head and it wasn't pretty:

'The Stone,' as he's known, did at least manage to have a chuckle about the situation, taking to Twitter to say that he needed to learn some knee defence:
