Nate Diaz Calls Out Conor McGregor Over His Inactivity

Nate Diaz has brought about the possibility of a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor by calling the Irishman out for waiting so long to get back into action.

McGregor claimed back in October that 2020 would be a 'season' for him and that he would fight three times, including his comeback fight against Donald Cerrone.

Since defeating 'Cowboy' in January the Irishman hasn't announced when he'll return next and has been linked with facing the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson, which takes places next month.

Now Diaz, a former two time opponent of the Irishman, has taken a dig at the Notorious for not getting back in the octagon quicker.

Diaz claims that was 'already back in by now' likely refer to the fact that he came back from three years without a fight, after his loss to McGregor, in August 2019 and was back in action just three months later.

His return came at UFC 241 where he beat Anthony Pettis, in a typically hard hitting fight, winning in a unanimous decision before going on to face Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in November 2019.

The Stockton Slugger picked up a 90 day medical suspension following that fight so hasn't been active since but has been linked with a potential trilogy fight with McGregor.

With Diaz and McGregor being 1-1 after their epic series in 2016, in which Diaz was the first man to beat his rival in UFC after stepping in as a late replacement, a trilogy fight seems inevitable at some point.

McGregor has also been linked with the winner of the lightweight title fight between Khabib and Ferguson, a clash with Justin Gaethje, welterweight fights with Jorge Masvidal or Kamaru Usman and a return to boxing to face Floyd Mayweather again.

UFC president Dana White recently admitted he didn't know if McGregor would wait for the winner of Khabib vs Ferguson saying, "I don't know if Conor wants to wait for him. We'll see what happens. Conor may not wait."

Instead of waiting for the Russian for a second time maybe he'll choose to face Diaz for a third time, it's certainly a fight the fans would love to see.
