Floyd Mayweather Gives Controversial Reaction After Khabib Vs McGregor Brawl

Mayweather was the last person to beat McGregor before the Irishman's loss to Khabib and the controversy that followed it.

Floyd Mayweather knows what it's like to beat Conor McGregor and he knows all about controversy so the boxer is in a perfect place to comment on Khabib Nurmagomedov's actions on Saturday night.

It's unlikely that we've ever spoken about a single sporting event in such a short amount of time as Conor McGregor vs Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

In fact the only thing I can think of that comes close was last year's fight between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. That might beat it just because of all the coverage before the fight too.

What the boxing match with Mayweather really missed though was any real controversy during the fight or immediately following it.

That certainly wasn't lacking in the UFC main event on Saturday night as the Russian launched himself into the crowd to pick on a member of McGregor's team as the Irishman fought with member's of Khabib's team.

Now Mayweather has chimed in with his opinions on the fight and specifically the aftermath. Speaking to ITP Live in Abu Dhabi the boxer said:

"McGregor is a tough competitor but McGregor's opponent jumped out of the ring and was fighting people in the crowd so... very unprofessional.

"It's going to be a huge fine I'm pretty sure because with my fight against Zab Judah, there was a crazy melee in the ring and a huge penalty - a huge fine. If I'm not mistaken, seven figures.

"Not to me, but could have been to Zab Judah or my uncle Roger or even Leonard Ellerbe, so I know when a guy's jumping out of the cage into the audience and fighting different people, the fine is going to be crazy."

There is talk that McGregor could switch back to boxing, following his defeat to Khabib, but it's unlikely that Mayweather would be the opponent again.

'Money's' win against 'the Notorious' last year took him to a 50-0 record in professional boxing but he could soon come out of retirement again with talks of a fight in Japan and a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.

It remains to be seen exactly what punishment Khabib and McGregor will get for their parts in the incident on Saturday.
