Jon Jones Responds To Jan Blachowicz Call Out After Jacare Souza Win

The Polish light heavyweight wanted a title shot after his win but the champion doesn't seem keen on taking on Blachowicz.

Jon Jones is running out of serious competition at the top of the UFC's light heavyweight division but that doesn't mean the champion is going to give just anyone a title shot.

The UFC light heavyweight champion has held his belt since 2011 apart from two periods when he had to drop the belt after his hit and run incident and when he was stripped of the belt for failing a drugs test.

In 14 title matches 'Bones' hasn't lost a single one and he's become one of the most dominant champions in MMA and now he can pick and choose his opponents.

Jan Blachowicz was hoping he would be next up, after defeating Jacare Souza at UFC Fight Night last Saturday:

But the champ has now responded to that call out on Twitter, claiming the Polish fighter 'doesn't sound ready' to take him on for the belt.

Most fans would probably argue that 'sounding' ready wasn't the 36-year-olds only problem last weekend. Despite the victory his performance was nothing to write home about.

The KSW light heavyweight champion has a UFC record of 8-5 but six of those eight wins have come in his previous seven fights, including the win over Jacare.

His only loss came against Thiago Silva, who in turn took Jones close, perhaps the closest he's come to losing the title, in a split decision fight at UFC 239.

However Blachowicz's boring performance against Jacare, despite winning, is likely to count against him as he pursues a title shot.

Instead it looks like Jones next title defence will be against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February 2020. There are reports the pair have already agreed to the fight verbally, though no paperwork has been signed.

Twenty nine-year-old Reyes has a perfect 12-0 MMA record and stopped Chris Weidman in the first round in his last outing in October.

Can Reyes stop Jones' run as champion? Can anyone?
