Jon Jones Responds To Israel Adesanya 'Hunting A GOAT' Claim

Jon Jones has aimed fire at UFC middleweight challenger Israel Adesanya after the 29 year old claimed that having beaten one 'GOAT' he was 'hunting' the next one in the form of Jones.

Israel Adesanya has the chance to win his first UFC title when he takes on Kelvin Gastelum for the interim middleweight title at UFC 236 on Saturday night, but already the impressive New Zealander is eyeing up a huge future fight.

The 29 year old has an unbeaten 16-0 record in MMA since beating legend Anderson Silva in February at UFC 234, to earn his shot at the interim title.

Following that fight light heavyweight champion Jon Jones claimed he 'had a feeling' he would fight Adesanya at some point in the future.

This week, leading up to the Gastelum fight, the Nigerian born fighter responded to Jones, saying, via MMA Fighting, "It does tickle my loins. It does make me feel some type of way. I like challenges. [Jones] is the GOAT right now, right? I've already killed one GOAT, I'm hunting the next."

Jones, who next defends his light heavyweight title at UFC 239, is not one to shirk a challenger and responded with a straight talking tweet:

The Last Stylebender did go on to say in his interview that he wasn't yet thinking about a fight with Jones anyway. Asked how he matched up the New Zealander said, "Focus on this weekend. That's way down the line. I've still got to run through all these middleweights first. So we'll focus on that later on. That's just a little teaser. Later on we'll talk about that."

Jones next fight is against Thiago Santos in July, with his light heavyweight title on the line once again, and rumours that he will move up to heavyweight refuse to go away.

Before the Santos fight was announced 'Bones' had tweeted former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic to hint at a fight and there's also been rumours of him taking on Brock Lesnar and heavyweight champion, and long time rival Daniel Cormier. Lesnar and Cormier could fight in August, according to more recent rumours.

If Adeseyma can remain undefeated then a future fight with Jones could be one for the ages.
