Dustin Poirier Accuses Conor McGregor Of Breaking Rematch Promise

McGregor said on numerous occasions he would donate to Poirier's 'Good Fight Foundation' but it seems he hasn't paid up.

Dustin Poirier has accused rival Conor McGregor of failing to live up to his promise and donate $500,000 to the American's charity, the 'Good Fight Foundation.'

McGregor was surprisingly respectful throughout the build up to his second fight with Poirier earlier this year at UFC 257.

The Irishman didn't get involved in any of his usual name calling or wind up techniques and was instead the picture of class, which even extended to the post fight chat between the two.

McGregor's most classy gesture was saying that he would donate half a million dollars to Poirier's charity, which helps fund food insecurity, health care and disaster relief to the underprivileged in his hometown of Louisiana.

However, nearly three months on from their rematch, which Poirier won with ease, and with the Notorious now predicting what will happen in their third fight in July, the Diamond has accused his rival of not paying up.

McGregor, never one for taking things quietly, has hit back at Poirier, and used the fact they're having a third fight as part of the reason behind his thinking.

The former two weight UFC champion responded by claiming he wouldn't donate because he wasn't told how the money was being used.

He added that the fact his rival was ready to fight him a third time this summer, rather than fight for the vacant lightweight title, was somehow proof he was right.

But it wasn't done there, with the American saying that his team had tried to reach out to his opponent to explain how the money would be used.

With Khabib Nurmagomedov's retirement finally being accepted by Dana White, months after the Russian initially told the world, Poirier was almost certainly in line to fight for the title.

The 32-year-old has won six of his last seven fights, with only a loss to Khabib in the middle, and scored wins over top contenders Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway, Dan Hooker, Anthony Pettis and Eddie Alvarez, before beating McGregor.

Instead the former interim champion decided to take on McGregor in a rubber fight, after the Irishman won their first meeting at featherweight in 2016.

Don't expect that third fight to be fought with the same respectful build up...
